Douglas Nunes is a professional horn player and a member of The Orchestra Now at Bard College (TŌN). Born in Guanhães, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Nunes moved to the United States in 2005, where he started studying music at age 10. He attended Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and received his bachelor’s degree in 2020 and his master’s degree in 2023. While at Indiana, he studied with Dale Clevenger, Denise Tryon, and Natural Horn with Richard Seraphinoff. Nunes was a winner of the Jacobs School of Music Brass Concerto Competition in 2022, and performed Othmar Schoeck’s Concerto for Horn and String Orchestra with the Jacobs Symphony Orchestra in February 2023. Nunes was also a member of the Wheaton Municipal Band from 2016-2019 and performed with the ensemble at the Midwest Clinic 2018 International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference in Chicago, IL. 

An avid chamber musician, Nunes has performed with numerous chamber ensembles, including the Aspen Music Festival Wind Orchestra and the Fenimore Chamber Orchestra, among others. His horn quartet at Indiana premiered Randall Faust’s Music for the Horns of the Emerald City in 2022, and he frequently performed in brass quintets with the  Wheaton Band. Nunes also has experience in the recording studio, and has collaborated with classic rock group Oldjoy to release various singles on a number of streaming platforms.
